history

Predecessor clubs

While the Nyköpings BK competed in the third division from 1930, the local competitor Nyköpings AIK initially played underclass. Nyköpings BK established itself in the front division and just barely missed promotion several times. In 1938 Nyköpings BK changed its name to Nyköpings SK. In the same year, the local rival made the leap into the third division and outstripped the renamed club in the following years. Already in the following year, AIK achieved a better placement with fifth place in the table compared to SK, who only placed in front of the relegation places because of the better goal quotient . At the end of the 1940/41 season the clubs parted ways when the SK was relegated to fourth division.

As the season winner of Division 3 Mellansvenskan Norra , Nyköpings AIK qualified in 1942 for the promotion games to the second division , in which Husqvarna IF was defeated. The league newcomer missed in his first second division season with two points behind Finspångs AIK and Åtvidabergs FF as third in the table the leap into the promotion games to Allsvenskan . In the following season, the club slipped into the relegation battle, but was initially able to hold the class in front of Finspångs AIK and Västerås SK . In 1945 the club rose after only one win of the season together with IF Verdandi , before the crash in the fourth division followed in the following year. Here the club held up to a one-year interlude in the third division in the season 1953/54 in the following years, where it came back to Lokarderby with Nyköpings SK.

In 1960 Nyköpings AIK again made the leap into the third division. In Division 3 Nordöstra Götaland , the team established itself in the front half of the league and at the end of the 1963 season managed to win the relay. At the same time, the Nyköpings SK, who had followed their local rivals in the third division in the previous year, rose again directly. The renewed stay of the AIK in the second division lasted only one season. After relegation, the club missed immediate resurgence with a fifth place in the table.

After the merger

On January 1, 1966, the third division Nyköpings AIK and the fourth division Nyköpings SK merged under the name Nyköpings BIS. The fusion club, which had inherited the starting place from Nyköpings AIK in Division 3 Nordöstra Götaland , established itself in the top division. 1970 succeeded the team before BK Derby the relay victory and thus the promotion to the second division. Here she took places in the front midfield in the following years. In 1977, the club briefly slipped into the relegation battle when only the better goal difference compared to the same point competitor IK Sleipner helped to stay in the league. In the following season, the team achieved the best result in the club's history by taking third place behind IFK Sundsvall and IK Brage . The success was short-lived, at the end of the 1980 season the club rose to the third division together with IFK Kristianstad and Kalmar AIK .

In the first two years in the third division, Nyköpings BIS did not get beyond midfield. At the end of the 1983 season, the season winner of Division 3 Östra Svealand managed to move into the promotion round to the second division in which the promotion was brought about by two wins against Falu BS . There the level of play turned out to be too high, with two victories this season, the direct relegation followed as bottom of the table. As second in the table behind Spårvägens GoIF , they missed the return and established themselves in the first third of the table in the third division in the following years.

1993 Nyköpings BIS missed relegation in the autumn championship, but rose again in 1994. There the club played against relegation, which was initially avoided several times in relegation, but had to be accepted in 1998. In the 2001 season, the renewed rise succeeded, but this was followed by direct relegation. Again it took two years to get promoted again and this time they managed to stay out of the league before the team fell victim to a league reform in 2005. In the following years she stayed in the fourth division Division 2 in the upper half of the table. In 2012, the club won its fourth division season with ten points ahead of Carlstad United BK and rose to the third division Division 1 Norra .
