IFK Kristianstad is a handball club from the Swedish city of Kristianstad . There used to be other sections in the sports club in addition to handball, for example cycling and football . The football department was incorporated into the Kristianstads FF club in 1990 . The men's handball team was 37 seasons in the highest Swedish league, the Elitserien . The coach is Ljubomir Vranjes .
The association was founded in 1899 by Adolf Johnsson, a student from the city's teacher training institution. He was the spokesman for the first year.
The most important club successes were achieved in the middle of the 20th century. In addition to the four championship titles of the handball team, the soccer team reached the qualifying round for the highest league in 1960, but the promotion failed. In cycling, Herbert Dahlbom sprinted to nationwide successes in the 1950s. At the same time until the first 1960s, Britt Mårtensson was a successful athlete for the club.
There was a second boom for the handball team in the 1970s. IFK Kristianstad is sixth in the all-time table of the first division.
