Koča Popović
Koča Popović, Drvar 1943
Koča Popović ( Cyrillic Коча Поповић ; born March 14, 1908 in Belgrade , † October 20, 1992 ) was a Yugoslav politician.
He attended a grammar school in Belgrade and studied philosophy at the Sorbonne . In 1933 he became a member of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia . From 1937 to 1939 he fought as a volunteer on the Republican side in the Spanish Civil War . During the Second World War he joined the Yugoslav People's Liberation Army in 1941 .
From 1946 to 1953 he was Chief of the General Staff of the Yugoslav People's Army and from 1953 to 1965 Foreign Minister of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia . Then he was Vice President of Yugoslavia until 1972.
