The Enciklopedija Jugoslavije (Encyclopedia of Yugoslavia) is a multi-volume national encyclopedia published in the SFR Yugoslavia in 2 editions , which was edited by the Yugoslav Lexicographical Institute .

In Osijek , 2 volumes of the planned 6 volumes Hrvatska Enciklopedija - Priručni rječnik sveobćega znanja (up to the keyword Gzel, Petar ), were published in 1887 and 1890 , by Ivan Zoch (1843-1921) and Josip Mencin (1856-1900), Professors at Osijek Grammar School.

Stanoje Stanojević (1874–1937) published the Narodna enciklopedija srpsko-hrvatsko-slovenačka (= Serbian-Croatian-Slovenian People's Encyclopedia) in Zagreb between 1925 and 1929 in two editions of four and five volumes, one in Cyrillic and one in Latin Font. The work is considered the first Yugoslav encyclopedia.

From 1941 to 1945 5 volumes of the Hrvatska Enciklopedija (up to the keyword Elektrika ) were published in Zagreb . Editor-in-chief was Mate Ujević (1901-1967), who later worked in a leading position at the Yugoslav Lexicographical Institute and was involved in the creation of the first edition of the Enciklopedija Jugoslavije.

Second edition of the Enciklopedija Jugoslavije

The second edition of Enciklopedija Jugoslavije appeared from 1980 and was planned to be 12 volumes. In addition to the main edition in Serbo-Croatian / Latin script, there were also transmissions in 5 other language / script variants. In the course of the dissolution of Yugoslavia, the project was discontinued in 1991. Volumes 1 to 6 of the main edition were published by this time.
