Kristianstads Fotbollsförening is a Swedish football club from Kristianstad . The club, founded in 1990, played one season in the second division . The women's football department broke away from the club in 1998 to merge with Wä IF and is now running under the name of Kristianstads DFF .

history

Kristianstads FF was established in 1990 when the IFK Kristianstad football department broke away from the club and merged with Vilans BoIF . The team then started in the fourth division 3 Sydöstra Götaland . After midfield positions were initially occupied, in 1993 the season winner was promoted to third-class Division 3 Södra Götaland . Initially, the club played in the middle of the table before they occupied the top spots towards the end of the decade. 1997 were still three points missing to a promotion place, a year later the team rose as a relay winner in the second-rate Division 1 Södra.

Kristianstads FF only stayed in the second division for a year because a league reform - the two second division seasons were merged into one - a ninth place in the table was not enough to keep them up. In the third division, the team also found itself in a relegation battle. In 2000, the last non-relegation place was occupied, followed a year later by the crash into fourth class. As runner-up, the team reached the promotion round, in which they could manage the direct promotion.

In the third division Kristianstads FF established itself in the midfield. In 2005 the team qualified as second in the table behind Bunkeflo IF for the newly created third-class Division 1 . Here she occupied only one relegation place in 2007, as the season winner of Division 2 Södra Götaland , however, she achieved direct promotion. As a newcomer, the club narrowly missed the march into the Superettan with one point behind the season winner Östers IF and second-placed Skövde AIK .
