Mats Ture Magnusson (born July 10, 1963 in Helsingborg ) is a Swedish football player .
Career
Player career
Magnusson played for Benfica from 1987/88 to 1991/92 . He won two championship titles with the club in the 1988/89 and 1990/91 seasons. In the 1989/90 season he was top scorer in the first division with 33 goals. Magnusson was also in the squad for Benfica's last major international successes, reaching the European Cup finals in 1988 and 1990.
Before that, the Swede ran briefly for the Swiss club Servette FC Genève and above all his Swedish hometown club Malmö FF, with whom he was able to celebrate similarly great successes as later with Benfica. Magnusson was able to win the national championship title several times during his time in southern Sweden.
Mats Magnusson was a member of the Swedish national team at the 1990 World Cup in Italy . In 1991 the striker returned to his homeland, where he played for Helsingborgs IF alongside a young Henrik Larsson in the storm. With him, the club rose in 1992 to the first Swedish league Allsvenskan .
Coaching career
From 1994 Magnusson was active as an assistant coach at his last club Helsingborg. In 1999 he took over the coaching job at Kristianstads FF . After two years he left the club. From 2002 to 2009 he coached his son, who played ice hockey for MODO Hockey in the junior team J20. In 2010 he briefly coached the Arlövs BI team . After this job he came to Åkarps IF as a youth coach for four years . In November 2014 he took over a coaching position in the youth of Trelleborgs FF . He had to resign from his post as head coach of the U-17 team in May 2015 due to lack of time.
