The Primeira Divisão 1941/42 was the eighth season of the top Portuguese division in men's football. The league operation continued undisturbed during the Second World War , as Portugal declared itself neutral . The game was played from January 18, 1942 to June 14, 1942.

The championship title was secured for the fourth time by Benfica Lisbon .

Until 1948, the teams that could qualify through the regional tournaments were eligible. Ascent and descent were only introduced afterwards.

This season the field of participants increased from eight to twelve teams. Two of them took part in the championship for the first time, namely Leça FC from Leça da Palmeira and from Olhão the SC Olhanense and Vitória Guimarães .
