Hulk (born July 25, 1986 in Campina Grande ; real life Givanildo Vieira de Souza ) is a Brazilian soccer player who plays for Shanghai SIPG . He is known for his strong left foot and technique. He received the stage name Hulk from his time at Tokyo Verdy because of his physical style of play and in relation to the green jerseys of the Japanese club team. Before that he played under his first name "Givanildo".

Japan

Hulk began his professional career in Brazil in 2005 at EC Vitória . In the current season he moved to Japan to Kawasaki Frontale . There he played eleven games and scored one goal. In 2006 he was awarded to Consadole Sapporo , who played in the J. League Division 2 . That season he scored 25 goals in 38 games. The following season it was awarded again, this time to Tokyo Verdy . With 37 goals he was involved in the club's return to the J. League Division 1 . In early 2008, Hulk moved permanently to Tokyo Verdy.

FC Porto

In the summer transfer period of 2008 he left the Japanese club for Europe and signed with FC Porto , which transferred a transfer fee of 19 million euros to Tokyo Verdy. The contract was valid for four seasons. In Porto he scored 54 goals in 99 league games.

Zenit St. Petersburg

On September 3, 2012, Hulk moved to the Russian first division club Zenit St. Petersburg for over 50 million euros . He signed a five-year contract and was given the shirt number 29; later he wore the shirt number 7. On May 5, 2013, Hulk scored his first hat trick in the Zenit jersey in a 4-0 home win against Alania Vladikavkaz .

Hulk has been part of the Brazilian senior team since 2009 . On May 8, 2014 he was appointed to the squad for the 2014 World Cup by coach Luiz Felipe Scolari .

Others

On December 20, 2009, after a game against Benfica Lisbon , Hulk was involved in a brawl with a steward with other players. He was then banned for four months. The ban was later reduced to three games by the Portuguese Football Association . The President of the Portuguese Football League, Loureiro, resigned to protest against an alleged preference given to FC Porto.

In 2012 he took part with the Olympic team at the Olympic Games in London , where Brazil wanted to win the gold medal for the first time. In the final, however, Brazil had to admit defeat to the Mexican team 1: 2 . Hulk appeared in five out of six games and scored the goal for Brazil in stoppage time in the final.
