Azumir Luis Casimiro Veríssimo, usually just called Azumir (born June 7, 1935 in Rio de Janeiro , † December 2, 2012 there ), was a Brazilian football player . He attracted attention especially as the Portuguese top scorer in 1962.

In Rio de Janeiro he played from 1958 to 1960 at Madureira EC and 1961 CR Vasco da Gama . According to various lists, he is said to have played at Bangu AC , Flamengo Rio de Janeiro , Botafogo FR and Fluminense Rio de Janeiro .

In 1961 he moved to Portugal for FC Porto . There he made an excellent hit and was already in his first season under the Hungarian coach György "Jorge" Orth and after his death in the middle of the season under the Argentine Francisco Reboredo , runner-up behind Sporting Lisbon , but before the winner of the European Cup Benfica Lisbon . He himself contributed with 23 goals in 20 games, which made him the top scorer that season. In the following season he was runner-up again, this time behind Benfica. His 17 goals in 19 games were also considerable. In the 1963/64 season he came only to five missions with three goals. National players Virgílio Marques and Hernâni Ferreira da Silva were among his better-known teammates at FC Porto .

The following season he moved to the second division for SC Covilhã , with which he reached a middle place. In 1965 he moved to FC Barreirense and played first class again. In 17 games he only got one goal, the club was relegated last. He stayed one more season and was able to celebrate the immediate resurgence.

He himself, meanwhile 32 years old, but joined the third division CD Beja for the 1967/68 season . In the further course of his career, he finished this at FC Tirsense from Santo Tirso in northern Portugal, which was between the first and second division in those years.

Azumir later settled in Rio de Janeiro, where he died on December 2, 2012 after a long illness.
