Footballer of the year in Russia
The title of Russia's Footballer of the Year has been awarded every year since 1991/92 by two different sports newspapers based on the result of a vote among players from all top division clubs for one calendar year each. The two votes are organized by the daily Sport-Express and the weekly Futbol after the end of the respective premier league season. The players from the Premjer division are available, with Sport-Express only providing eleven players per team. Often the same players win in both votes. As a rule, Russian players are chosen, it wasn't until 2005 that a foreigner, the Brazilian Daniel Carvalho, was chosen.
