Footballer of the year in Luxembourg
The most outstanding player of a season is honored every year in Luxembourg as Footballer of the Year . The footballer of the year is determined by the daily newspaper Luxemburger Wort ; The first title holder of the award made in 1988 was Denis Scuto . The current winner of the Challenge Guy Greffrath 2019 is Danel Sinani from Luxembourg ( F91 Dudelange ).
Only players who are under contract with a BGL Ligue club are considered candidates .
Between 1964 and 2000, the Lorraine newspaper Le Républicain Lorrain also found a Monsieur Football . The first title holder was Théo Stendebach , the last winner was Jeff Strasser . This award was given a total of 35 times, always to a player with Luxembourg nationality.
The most successful player is Guy Hellers , who was voted Monsieur Football seven times . Robert Langers (five Monsieur Football titles ), Manuel Cardoni (one Monsieur Football title and four Challenge Guy Greffrath titles ), Louis Pilot (four Monsieur Football titles ) and seven other players, each with two awards, follow on the other places .
