Paul Philipp (born October 21, 1950 in Dommeldingen ) is a former Luxembourg football player and coach . He has been President of the Luxembourg Football Association (FLF) since February 14, 2004 .

Player career

Philipp began his active career in the senior sector in 1966 at Avenir Beggen . In the middle of the 1969/70 season he moved to Belgium to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise . From there he went to Standard Liège in 1974 , from where he returned to Saint-Gilloise after two years. In 1980 he joined Sporting Charleroi , where he played for three years. He left Belgium and ended his playing career with Avenir Beggen in 1985. With Beggen he won the Luxembourg championship twice and the Coupe de Luxembourg once . In 1969 he was elected Monsieur Football by the Lorraine newspaper Le Républicain Lorrain .

National team

For the Luxembourg national team , Philipp played a total of 54 international matches between 1968 and 1982, in which he scored four goals. This also includes ten games against B and amateur national teams, which are counted as official international matches in the FLF statistics. He made his debut on November 20, 1968 in the 5-1 defeat in the friendly against Denmark . He ended his international career on April 27, 1982 after losing 1-0 to a French amateur selection .

Coaching career

In 1985 Philipp replaced interim coach Josy Kirchens as coach of the Luxembourg national team, which he coached until 2001. Out of 87 games under his direction, Luxembourg won 3 games. There are also 8 ties.

Functionary career

Philipp was elected President of the Luxembourg Football Association FLF in a vote against incumbent Henri Roemer in February 2004. He was last re-elected for a fifth term in October 2018.
