Aurélien Joachim (born August 10, 1986 in Virton , Belgium ) is a Luxembourg soccer player with Belgian roots.

Career

Born and raised in Belgium, Aurélien Joachim, the son of a Luxembourgish mother and a Belgian father, began playing football in Rossignol before joining the youth teams of Royal Excelsior Virton via FC Lorrain Arlon . He then went to Excelsior Mouscron , but later returned to Virton and was accepted into the first team there.

At the beginning of 2006 he went to Germany and played for the second team of the second division VfL Bochum . After coming to 17 missions there in the 2006 calendar year, he joined the second team of the former Bundesliga club Alemannia Aachen during the winter break of the 2006/07 season . In the summer of 2007 Joachim switched back to Belgian football and played for Entente Sportive Jamoigne . After six months he joined FC Differdange 03 in Luxembourg . From there he went to local rivals F91 Dudelange for the 2011/12 season .

At the beginning of September 2012, Joachim switched to the Dutch first division club Willem II Tilburg as a professional . After the 2012/13 season and the relegation of his club, he signed a contract with RKC Waalwijk . For the 2014/15 season Joachim moved to Bulgaria to CSKA Sofia . He played for the English third division club Burton Albion until the winter break of the 2015/16 season, where his contract was dissolved in January 2016 after seven games.

In February 2016 he signed a contract with the Belgian second division club Royal White Star Brussels . On February 6, 2016, he played his first game for his new club and scored the goal in the game against KAS Eupen to make it 4-2. For the 2016/17 season, Joachim moved to league competitor Lierse SK . After the club was dissolved due to financial difficulties, he moved on to his former club Royal Excelsior Virton in July 2018 . Here he was able to celebrate promotion to the Belgian second division straight away in his first season. Virton did not receive a new license for the 2020/21 season.

On May 22, 2020, his former club FC Differdingen 03 announced the commitment of the international striker for the coming season.

National team

Joachim has been working for the Luxembourg national team since 2005 . With 14 goals in 79 appearances, Joachim is currently the third most successful scorer in the national team, behind Léon Mart (16 goals) and Gusty Kemp (15 goals).
