Carlo Weis (born December 4, 1958 in Luxembourg ) is a former football player from Luxembourg . Weis was the record international player in his country until 2009, when he was replaced by Jeff Strasser , who made a total of 98 internationals before retiring from the national team in 2010. In 1990 he was voted Footballer of the Year in Luxembourg as a player by Avenir Beggen . After his time as an active player, he started a career as a football coach .

On September 10, 2013, he was dismissed as head coach at FC RM Hamm Benfica after four games without a win . On May 21, 2014, US signed Rumelange , Weis as a trainer. After only one season, he moved to the record champions Jeunesse Esch in July 2015 , where he was dismissed on March 6, 2017. Since then he has been without a post.

Career

He played his first international match on March 22, 1978 (1: 3 against Poland) at the age of 19, his last on May 31, 1998 (2: 2 against Cameroon) at the age of 39. His only international goal is a converted penalty in the game against Portugal on October 12, 1991 (final score 1: 1). Since November 15, 1995, he was Luxembourg's record international player, with his 78th game, he exceeded the mark of his predecessor François Konter and expanded the record to 87 games by the end of his international career. It was not until November 19, 2008, that Weis' record was exceeded by Jeff Strasser with his 88th international match. Fener Carlo Weis is one of the few national players who have been a national player for at least 20 years. The Finn Jari Litmanen outbid his duration as a national player in 2010 at the age of 21.
