Moldova Footballer of the Year

The title of player of the year is in the Republic of Moldova since 1992 annually by the Moldovan Football Federation awarded. The first title holder was Alexandr Spiridon . So far, only Moldovans have won the title. Foreign players have not yet been honored. The most successful player is Alexandru Epureanu , who won the title four times between 2007 and 2012. The only player to win the title three times in a row is Serghei Covalciuc . Most of the titles have so far gone to midfielders. Goalkeepers have not yet won the award. The reigning footballer is Alexandru Epureanu. The most successful club is the Moldovan top club Zimbru Chișinău , which had the footballer of the year six times in their own ranks until 2002, but not after that. In 1999, the former Hamburg-based Alexandru Curtianu was the first footballer to play abroad . A total of twelve players playing abroad were honored.
