Serghei Covalciuc ( Russian Сергей Сергеевич Ковальчук , also Sergei Kowaltschuk , or Sergey Kovalchuk ; born January 20, 1982 in Odessa ) is a former Moldovan - Russian football midfielder who also played as a winger.
Career
Covalciuc plays in the Moldovan national soccer team and was under contract with Spartak Moscow in the Russian Premier League from 2004 to 2009 . In 2010 he moved to league rival Tom Tomsk . In 2011 he was signed by the Russian second division club Schemchuschina Sochi . Before that he played for Tiligul Tiraspol in the Moldovan championship and for the Ukrainian club Karpaty Lviv . In June 2012, the midfielder moved to FK Aqtöbe .
He initially had Moldovan and Transnistrian citizenship, but in 2007 Covalciuc applied for Russian citizenship in order to play for Spartak more often.
