Kazakh championship
1992–1997: mediocrity and decline
After Kazakhstan's independence, the club was a founding member of the Super League . In the first edition of the competition in 1992 the twelfth place was achieved. In 1994 the team fought for fourth place and was also in the final of the Kazakh Cup, but lost the game 0-1 against Vostok Öskemen . At the end of the 1995 season, the team was in thirteenth place, which is the worst placement of the team from Aqtöbe in the Kazakh elite class. In 1996, the team improved slightly when they finished tenth. After the 1997 season , the team was disbanded when only twelfth place in the championship was reached. In this season, the FK Aqtöbe conceded the highest defeat in history with 1: 9 against the eventual runner-up FK Taras .
2000–2004: reactivation and promotion
In 2000, the FK Aqtöbe was reactivated in the second Kazakh division . In the same season the second division was won and the promotion was made. Returning to the top league, the team finished eighth in 2001 . This was followed by fifth place in the 2002 and 2003 seasons and fourth in the 2004 season .
2005–2014: titles and successes
Since 2005 the club has been one of the most successful teams in Kazakhstan. In 2005, the first championship title was won when the team finished the season one point ahead of Tobyl Qostanai . In the cup, however, the team was eliminated in the round of 16.
In the following year, after the signing of the Russian specialist Vladimir Muchanow as head coach, FK Aqtöbe had to admit defeat to FK Astana in second place when the club from the capital collected four points more. In the quarter-finals of the Cup, the team Shakhtar Karagandy had to admit defeat.
In 2007 the team won the Kazakh championship for the second time in front of Tobol Qostanai with a considerable gap of eight points. The cup was again in the quarterfinals against the eventual cup winners from Qostanai.
On March 2nd, 2008 the first win of the Kazakh Supercup could be celebrated. The 2007 cup winner Tobol Qostanai was defeated 2-0 by two goals from Sergei Strukow . The next season in 2008 ended the club with the successful defense of the championship title, when again Tobol Qostanai was defeated in the game for first place on penalties, as the two teams finished the regular season tied. 120 minutes in front of 16,000 spectators in the central stadium in Almaty did not produce a winner, it was 1: 1. The opening goal in the 49th minute by the Moldovan legionnaire Alexandru Golban was equalized twenty minutes later with a converted penalty by the defender of FK Aqtöbe Samat Smaqow . The subsequent penalty shootout was decided by FK Aqtöbe 4-2. Also in 2008, the Kazakh Cup was won for the first time after FK Alma-Ata was beaten 3-1 in the final . Thus, the FK Aqtöbe succeeded as the first Kazakh team to win a national triple , which consists of three national titles ( Premjer League , Kazakh Football Cup and Kazakh Football Super Cup ) in the same year.
In 2009 , the third championship in a row followed and the fourth overall, when Tobol Qostanai was beaten 5-2 in the home stadium one match day before the end of the season and the club could no longer be ousted from first place. Finally, FK Aqtöbe ended the 2009 season five points ahead of runner-up Lokomotive Astana and eight points over third-placed Shakhtar Qaraghandy . In the 2009 Cup , the team was eliminated in the semi-finals against Shakhtar Qaraghandy after a 1-0 home win and subsequent 0-2 defeat.
On March 14, 2010 in the capital Astana Arena in front of 8,000 spectators, the Kazakh Supercup was won again when last year's cup winner FK Atyrau was defeated 2-0. In the 2010 Cup , the team failed, like last year, to Shakhtar Qaraghandy in the quarter-finals with a 2-1 defeat. Last year's title could not be defended in the Premjer-Liga 2010 . It was only enough for the runner-up with one point behind the eternal competitor Tobol Qostanai.
In the 2011 national soccer cup , FK Aqtöbe was kicked out of the competition by second division Aqschajyq Oral in the first round after a penalty shoot-out . The championships in 2011 and 2012 could each be finished in third place in the table.
In 2013 , four years after the last title win, the club from western Kazakhstan was able to celebrate the renewed championship title, which the 18-year-old Abat Ajymbetow secured with his last minute goal on the last day of the game. The game against Ordabassy Schymkent ended in a 2-2 draw and was enough for FK Aqtöbe to win their fifth title with just one point ahead of FK Astana . Thus, the club has always made it into the medal ranks of the Premjer League in the last nine seasons.
Name development
The association was founded in 1967 as Aktjubinez Aktjubinsk (Актюбинец Актюбинск) . Like most clubs in the former Soviet Union , the club has seen several name changes in its history. In 1996 it was first renamed Aqtöbemunai (Ақтөбемунай) . After only one season, the club was renamed FK Aqtöbe (ФК Ақтөбе) . From 2000 to 2004 the team ran under the name Aqtöbe-Lento (Ақтөбе-Ленто) . Since 2005, the club has been called FK Aqtöbe (ФК Ақтөбе) again .
Stadion
The club plays its home games in the 13,500-seat central stadium , which opened on August 28, 1975. On this day, the encounter between Aktjubinez and CSKA Moscow took place , which the capital city team won 1-0. The stadium is the only one in Kazakhstan that is purely a football stadium without a running track, which is specially designed to host football matches. In the 2006 , 2007 , 2009 and 2010 seasons , the central stadium in Aqtöbe was the most visited stadium in the Kazakh premier league . In 2009 an average of 6,823 and in 2010 6,888 football fans visited the stadium per game.
Spectators and fans

In addition, the branch West Wind was founded in the former capital Almaty , as well as branch 04 Region, which was founded in the current capital Nur-Sultan .

European Cup balance sheet
Internationally, FK Aqtöbe appeared for the first time with participation in the UEFA Champions League 2006/07, where the team was eliminated in the first qualifying round against the Latvian participants FK Liepājas Metalurgs after 0: 1 and 1: 1. The following season the team was kicked out of the competition in the first qualifying round of the 2007/08 UEFA Cup by SV Mattersburg from Austria. In the second leg, the Kazakh team led 3-0 after the first fifteen minutes, but conceded two goals before the half-time break and lost the overall comparison after conceding two more goals in the second half. Thus, the club retired from the Champions League 2009/10. In the subsequent qualification for the new UEFA Europa League , FK Aqtöbe had to compete with the German cup winner Werder Bremen and retired after two defeats (3: 6 in Bremen and 0: 2 in Aqtöbe).
FK Aqtöbe got off to a successful start in the 2010/11 European season when Georgian champions Olimpi Rustawi were eliminated in the second qualifying round for the UEFA Champions League after 2-0 (double goalscorer Samat Smaqow ) and 1-1 (goal: Murat Tleschew ). In the third qualifying round, the team failed to the Israeli champions Hapoel Tel Aviv , whereby the first leg in Aqtöbe was won 1-0 by the goal of captain Samat Smaqow and the second leg in Tel Aviv lost 3-1 (goal: Murat Tleschew) went. Thus, the FK Aqtöbe qualified for the play-off round of the 2010/11 UEFA Europa League , where the Dutch club AZ Alkmaar was drawn as the next opponent. AZ Alkmaar won the first leg 2-0. The reigning Kazakh champions won the second leg 2-1 with two goals from Murat Tleshev, but could not reach the group stage again.
The 2011/12 European season began for the team in the second qualifying round for the Europa League. The opponent Kecskeméti TE from Hungary could be defeated after two draws due to the away goals rule . The Russian Cup finalist Alania Wladikawkas was waiting for the next qualifying round . Here, too, both games ended in a draw (1: 1 each) and did not produce a winner. The FK Aqtöbe had to end both games due to red cards with only ten players each. In the subsequent penalty shoot-out , the North Ossetian club prevailed, and the dream of a place in the play-offs of the UEFA Europa League for FK Aqtöbe fell through.
After three consecutive qualifying rounds for the 2013/14 Europa League, where Gandsassar Kapan , IL Hødd and Breiðablik Kópavogur were defeated, the club from western Kazakhstan was in the play-off round for the third time in its history and was also able to do so for the third time Times when both games were lost against the Ukrainian top club Dynamo Kiev .
