The Astana Arena ( Kazakh Астана Арена) is a football stadium with a closable roof in the Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan . The arena offers space for 30,000 spectators and serves as the home ground for the Kazakh national soccer team and the two soccer clubs FK Astana and Bajterek Astana .

history

The stadium was built in 2009 and has a capacity of 30,000 spectators. The roof of the venue is usually closed and can be opened if necessary. The home games of the Kazakh national football team and FK Astana are primarily played there. The Kazakh Football Cup finals have been regularly played in the stadium since 2009 .

It was opened on July 3, 2009 when Lokomotive Astana played against the Kazakh men's U21 national football team . Many well-known guests were invited to the opening game. The impetus was carried out by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev . The match was led by the Italian referee Pierluigi Collina . The guest players were Kacha Kaladse , Andrij Shevchenko , Hasan Şaş and Hakan Şükür .

On October 14, 2009, the first game of the Kazakh national soccer team, against the Croatian national soccer team (1: 2), took place. On November 15, 2009, the final of the Kazakh Cup was played in the arena , with FK Atyrau defeating Shakhtar Karagandy 1-0.

The opening ceremony of the Winter Asian Games 2011 took place in the Astana Arena .
