The 7th Asian Winter Games was a multinational sporting event. They took place from January 30th to February 6th 2011 in Astana and Almaty . It was the first time that Kazakhstan had staged an event of this magnitude since independence from the Soviet Union .

Participating countries

Athletes from 26 countries took part in the 2011 Asian Winter Games. Bahrain , Qatar and Singapore were represented for the first time . In contrast to 2007 , Macau and Pakistan were no longer represented.

Kuwait played as athletes from Kuwait under the Olympic flag due to the suspension of its National Olympic Committee by the International Olympic Committee IOC .
