The 20th Asian Games will take place from September 19 to October 4, 2026 in the Japanese prefecture of Aichi and its capital Nagoya . This was decided at the end of September 2016 by the General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) in Danang, Vietnam, and due to the summer heat, the event was scheduled for autumn. This is the third time that the Games will take place in Japan after 1958 and 1994.

Around 15,000 athletes from 45 nations and regions are expected.
