The FK Vostok Öskemen ( Kazakh : Восток Өскемен Футбол Клубы; Russian "Восток" Усть-Каменогорск - Vostok Ust-Kamenogorsk) was a Kazakh football club from the east located Kazakhstan City Öskemen .

history

Soviet championship

The association was founded in 1963. In the Soviet championship, the club played mostly in the lowest leagues.

Kazakh championship

Since Kazakhstan's independence in 1991, the club played intermittently in the country's top division . The best placement was achieved in 1997 and 1998 with fifth place each. In 1994 the first big success on the national level could be celebrated when in the final of the Kazakh Cup the FK Aqtöbe was defeated 1-0. Vostok Östemen was transferred to the bottom of the table in 2008 due to a postponed game against Shakhtar Qaraghandy , but was still allowed to play in the top division in 2009 . After the 2009 season, the team had to relegate to the second Kazakh division due to financial difficulties and managed to get promoted again in the following season. After the disappointing 2011 season , there was another crash into the second division, but in the following season the immediate promotion was achieved.

Due to financial difficulties and the lack of sporting success, the merger of Vostok Öskemen and Spartak Semei to form the new club FK Altai Semei was announced at the end of the 2015 season .

Participation in AFC competitions

For the first time the club from Öskemen appeared in the Cup Winners' Cup in the 1995/96 season. In the West Asian group, the Kyrgyz representative Ak-Maral Tokmok was defeated in the first round . In the second round, the team was defeated by FC Bahman from Iran after a 2-2 home draw and a subsequent 0-1 away defeat.

Stadion

The club played its home games in the 12,000-seat Vostok Stadium , which was built in 1963.
