FK Spartak Semei ( Russian : Футбольный клуб Спартак Семей) was a Kazakh football club from Semei . The club colors were red and green.
history
Soviet championship
The association founded in 1964 as Tsementnik Semipalantinsk was renamed Spartak Semipalatinsk in 1971 . The team took part in the Soviet championship a total of 28 times from 1967 to 1991. All seasons were spent in the third division of the Soviet Union. Although the club was zone champion in 1970, 1971 and 1977, the club failed each in the promotion round.
Kazakh championship
After the end of the Soviet era and Kazakhstan's independence, it was renamed Yelimai Semipalatinsk again . The team celebrated its greatest successes under this name when it won the championship three times in 1994, 1995 and 1998 and won the cup in 1995. In the 2004 season the team was named FC Semei and was relegated from the Kazakh Super League . Since then, the club, which was renamed Spartak Semei in spring 2008 , played in the Kazakh second division . After the 2013 season , the team from Semipalatinsk returned to the Upper House of Kazakhstan when the team won the runner-up in the second division and in the relegation game on the neutral ground in the metropolitan Astana Arena , the penultimate in the Premjer league Wostok Öskemen with 1 : 0 after extra time was defeated by a goal from Pavel Puryschkin only in 118th minute. So Spartak Semei played first class again after nine years of abstinence. An immediate relegation followed in 2014 .
Due to financial difficulties and the lack of sporting success, the merger of Vostok Öskemen and Spartak Semei to form the new club FK Altai Semei was announced at the end of the 2015 season .
Asian Cup
For the first time the club from Semei appeared in the AFC Champions League in the 1995/96 season . In the Central Asian group, the Uzbek representative FK Neftchi Fargʻona was eliminated with a total score of 5: 4 in the first round . In the second round, the team had to give way to Al-Nasr from Saudi Arabia.
In the 1996/97 season , the Kyrgyz club AiK Bishkek could be defeated after two wins in the first round . In the second round, the team was eliminated again, the Iranian representative Persepolis Tehran proved to be too strong after a 3-0 home win and subsequent 0-5 away defeat.
