The FK Neftchi Fargʻona ( Russian ФК «Нефтчи» Фергана ) is a football club founded in 1962 from the Uzbek city of Fergana . The club currently plays (as of 2011) in the top division of Uzbekistan, the Uzbek professional football league . The club plays its home games in the Istiqlol Stadium. The club was founded in 1962, but had little success during the Soviet era and mostly played in the lower leagues. However, this changed after the independence of Uzbekistan and with the introduction of the Uzbek League. Neftchi became the country's champions for the first four years in a row. There were also two cup wins and in 1995 they even reached the semi-finals of the Asian Club Championship . The last title is from 2001. In 2008 they finished third and qualified for the AFC Cup . In 2017 they were relegated to the sport, but thanks to the withdrawals of other clubs they were able to keep the class.
