Carla Del Poggio

Carla Del Poggio (born Maria Luisa Attanasio ; born December 2, 1925 in Naples , † October 13, 2010 in Rome ) was an Italian actress .

Life

The fifteen-year-old language and dance student was chosen in 1940 by Vittorio De Sica as the leading actress for his film Maddalena, a girl with a kick . She then completed her acting studies at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome . During the war she took part in other film productions. After the end of the war, she rose to become one of the stars of neo-realistic Italian cinema , especially under director Alberto Lattuada . In Federico Fellini's directorial debut Lights des Varieté ( Luci del varietà ) she took on the female lead.

In 1955 she appeared for the first time with greater success at the Teatro San Ferdinando in Naples. In 1956 she ended her film career and then concentrated almost exclusively on stage work.

Carla Del Poggio died at the age of 84 in October 2010. She was married to the director Alberto Lattuada from 1945 until his death in 2005.
