Metallurg Bekobod ( Russian Металлург Бекабад ) is a football club in the Uzbek city of Bekobod . The club currently plays in the top division of Uzbekistan , the Uzbek Professional Football League . The club plays its home games in the Metallurg-Bekobod Stadium, which was modernized in 2012 and has a capacity of 15,000.
The club was founded in 1945. The greatest success in the club's history so far has been winning the Uzbek Cup twice in the Soviet era in 1985 and 1990. It was not until 1997 that the company was promoted to the highest Uzbek football league, in which it continues to play today. Until 2007, the club fought mostly successfully, even if mostly just against relegation. In 2007, however, the sporting decline could not be avoided. Due to financial problems of other clubs you could still remain in the league. The best place to date at the end of a season came in 2002 with a fifth place.
