The Uzbek Professional Football League (formerly Oliy Liga ; Uzbekiston Professional Futbol Ligasi ; Russian Профессиональная футбольная лига Узбекистана ) is the top division of club football in Uzbekistan . The league was founded in 1992 when Uzbekistan gained independence from the Soviet Union and is hosted by the Uzbek Football Federation . The record winner of the post-Soviet era is Pachtakor Tashkent with eleven titles . The current champion in 2018 is Lokomotiv Tashkent .

A well-known player to appear in the Uzbek league was 1999 FIFA World Player of the Year , Rivaldo . He moved to Bunyodkor Tashkent in August 2008 and stayed there until 2010.

A total of 12 teams take part in the first division in 2018. These play the champions against each other in the first and second round. The first two places in the league automatically qualify for the group phase or qualifying round of the AFC Champions League . Athletic relegated to the 2nd division is the last in the table at the end of the season.
