The Paxtakor Central Stadium ( Uzbek Paxtakor Markaziy Stadioni , Russian Центральный стадион "Пахтако́р" , Central Pachtakor Stadium ) is a football stadium with an athletics facility in the Uzbek capital Tashkent . It is the largest venue in the country and serves as the national stadium . In addition to the Paxtakor Tashkent football club , the Uzbek national football team uses the central stadium for their games. Today the sports facility offers 35,000 seats for visitors.

history

The facility was built in 1956 during the Soviet rule of the then Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic (UsSSR). The bowl-like grandstand ring in the wide round is without a roof. The event venue is illuminated by four massive tubular steel floodlight masts; that lean into the stadium. At that time the facility was still equipped with wooden benches. There is a building in the opposite stand; where the VIP - boxes for officials of the association as the Football Association are housed. After a minor renovation in 1996, the central stadium was comprehensively modernized in 2008. With the installation of plastic seats in the club colors blue and yellow, the capacity decreased from 55,000 to 35,000 visitors. The old athletics facility in red gave way to a modern facility in light blue. In addition, the central stadium received, among other things, a new sound system , an 11 meter × 8.5 meter video screen , a press center and conference room.
