Olmaliq ( Cyrillic Олмалиқ ; Russian Алмалык Almalyk ) is a city in the Uzbek province of Tashkent , located 55 km southeast of the capital Tashkent at about 530  m above sea level.

Olmaliq is located on the northern slopes of the Qurama Mountains on the left bank of the Ohangaron River . According to the 1989 population census, Olmaliq had 116,000 inhabitants at that time, according to a calculation for 2009 the population is 110,747.

Olmaliq was founded in 1951 and developed into a center of metallurgy , in which copper , molybdenum , lead and zinc are extracted from the Qurama mountains and partly processed. The name of the city, however, refers to the occurrence of wild apple trees , olma is Uzbek for "apple".

The football club FK Olmaliq comes from Olmaliq .
