Ohangaron ( Cyrillic Оҳангарон; Russian Ахангаран Achangaran ) is a city in the Uzbek province of Tashkent , about 50 km southeast of the Uzbek capital Tashkent . According to the 1989 census, Ohangaron had 31,100 inhabitants, according to a calculation for 2009 the population is 36,755.
Ohangaron is an independent city and also the capital of a district of the same name . It is located north of the Angren River, also known as the Ohangaron, on the Tashkent- Angren railway line . Ohangaron was founded in 1960 as part of the construction of a cement plant and in 1966 it was promoted to town.
