The Dhivehi Premier League , also: Wataniya Dhivehi League, is a professional football league in the Maldives . It is also the highest league in the country. The league was founded in 2000. The league champions qualify, together with the cup winners, for participation in the AFC Cup . The record winner is New Radiant with seven titles.

mode

In a rather complicated mode, both the master and the relegated are determined. At the same time, the league serves as a qualifying tournament for the Maldives National Championships. In the first round of the league, the eight teams only play one game against each other. The top six teams qualify for the second round of the league. Here, too, the teams only play one game against each other. At the end of the second round, the championship leader is also determined. The first four of the table qualify for the national championships, also known as the President's Cup . The two worst-placed clubs play off the promoted and relegated teams in the relegation play-offs against the two finalists of the second division.
