Tomáš Šimkovič (born April 16, 1987 in Bratislava ) is an Austrian football player of Slovak origin.

After his parents moved to Tulln an der Donau , the midfielder played for the small Austrian clubs USC Kirchberg / Wagram and USV Großriedenthal in their youth. Šimkovič also spent some time at SK Rapid Vienna before attending the Frank Stronach Academy in Hollabrunn .

In 2005 he joined the amateur team of Vienna Austria , in which he played until January 2008. From January 2008, Šimkovič was under contract with SC Schwanenstadt . After the club moved its headquarters to Oberwaltersdorf as SC Magna Wiener Neustadt in summer 2008 , Šimkovič moved to the new Stronach club in Lower Austria .

In January 2012 he returned to Austria. With Austria he was able to become Austrian champion in the 2012/13 season. In January 2014 he moved to Tobyl Qostanai in Kazakhstan . In the following three and a half years he completed 87 games for Tobyl in the Premjer league , in which he scored 18 goals. In June 2017 he moved to league rivals FK Aqtöbe .

After 14 games for Aqtöbe, Šimkovič moved to Lithuania for FK Žalgiris Vilnius in February 2018 . In the 2018 season he played 31 games for Žalgiris in A lyga and scored seven goals. In February 2019 he moved to Latvia for FK RFS .

National team

Internationally, Šimkovič played for almost all Austrian youth selections. His greatest successes were reaching the semi-finals of the U-19 European Championship in 2006 and the U-20 World Cup in 2007 in Canada , where he played a major role in the success of the U-20 selection in Austria with two appearances .

Personal

Šimkovič was born in 1987 in today's Slovak capital, Bratislava. His parents are both from Slovakia. His father Boris worked as a lawyer at the time and is now mayor of the Slovak town of Záhorská Ves , which has around 1,600 inhabitants.
