Ioan "Ando" "Fălcosul" Andone , actually Ioan Andonie , (born March 15, 1960 in Șpălnaca ) is a former Romanian football player and current coach . Andone took part as a player in the 1984 European Football Championship and the 1990 World Cup.

Player career

Ioan Andone started his career with his hometown club Corvinul Hunedoara . His first use in Divizia A he completed on March 7, 1979 in the defeat against Sportul Studențesc . It stayed with this one participation and Corvinul rose to Divizia B at the end of the season . Andone played his part as a regular player both in the following resurgence and in Corvinul's most successful period at the beginning of the 1980s under player- coach Mircea Lucescu . After the 1982/83 season , in which Corvinul played in the UEFA Cup and Andone scored eight goals as a defender, he moved to Dinamo Bucharest . There he won the championship and the cup in the first season.

In 1989, his career initially seemed to be over. As a result of the events in the Romanian Cup final in 1988, the rivalry between Dinamo and Steaua Bucharest had reached its climax in front of and behind the scenes. In the championship game between the two title contenders of the 1988/89 season on March 22, 1989, there was a scandal when Andone let himself be carried away after the end of the game to obscene gestures in the direction of the then Steaua boss Valentin Ceaușescu , the son of the dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu . Although the incidents were initially covered up in public, he was banned for three months.

With Dinamo he was able to celebrate a total of two championships, three cup wins and four runner-ups until 1990. He played for his two Romanian clubs 255 first division games, in which he scored 35 times, and 29 European Cup games in which he scored three goals.

In 1990 Andone - like many other strong Romanian players - went abroad and moved to FC Elche in the Spanish Segunda División for $ 125,000  . After just a year, Andone moved to the Netherlands and joined SC Heerenveen , who played in the second-rate Eerste Divisie . There he ended his active career in 1993 and trained as a coach.

National team

Together with his teammates Romulus Gabor and Mircea Rednic , Andone made his debut on November 11, 1981 in Bern in the international match against Switzerland in the Romanian national soccer team . All three had been called up by the new national coach Mircea Lucescu, their player-coach at Corvinul Hunedoara at the time. In 1984 he took part in the 1984 European Football Championship in France, but was only used in the game against Germany . Six years later, Emerich Jenei nominated him for the 1990 World Cup in Italy. Andone was used in all four Romanian games. After the World Cup, he resigned from the national team. Andone made a total of 55 international appearances in which he scored two goals.

He also played two internationals for the Romanian U-21 national team . At the junior soccer world championship in 1981 Andone won the bronze medal with his team.

Coaching career

After his active career, Andone returned to Romania in 1993 and coached Sportul Studențesc in Divizia A. After saving the team from relegation, he moved to league rivals Universitatea Cluj in 1994 , before returning to Sportul in autumn 1995 until the end of the season . In the fall of 1996 he took over Petrolul Ploieşti and placed with the club at the end of the 1996/97 season in mid-table, but was dismissed on October 6, 1997 and replaced by Alexandru Pall . A few weeks later, the league rival Farul Constanța took him under contract, which he looked after until his release in December 1998.

At the beginning of the 1999/2000 season , Andone was the head coach of newly promoted FC Brașov , but was dismissed 18 matchdays due to the threat of relegation. In the 2000/01 season he first moved to second division FC Bihor Oradea in the following season before returning to Sportul in early 2001. With this he made it to the top division at the end of the season. After two years he was signed by Dinamo Bucharest in March 2003 to succeed Cornel Dinu . With Dinamo he won the Romanian Cup three times in a row and the championship in 2004. In the 2005/06 season , despite his success in the UEFA Cup , he was dismissed by President Ioan Becali in December 2005 and replaced by Marin Ion .

Andone then signed in the Cypriot Premier League with Omonia Nicosia , but had to vacate his chair after a year. From May 25, 2007 he was back in Romania and was under contract with CFR Cluj . A successful relationship, because with CFR he immediately won the Romanian championship and the Romanian cup in his first year and for the first time for the club. In August 2008 he was dismissed despite the success after a bad start to the season and replaced by the Italian Maurizio Trombetta .

In January 2009, Andone signed a five-month contract with the Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq, together with assistant coaches Ion Manu and Iulian Mihăescu . Then Andone trained from June until his release on November 5, 2009 Al-Ahli , the winner of the UAE League 2008/09 .

On January 17, 2010 Andone signed a one-and-a-half-year contract with the Bulgarian association CSKA Sofia , which was terminated on March 30, 2010 by mutual agreement. From March 31, 2010 Andone was the coach of the Romanian first division team Rapid Bucharest . After the end of the season he moved to the league rivals Dinamo Bucharest , with whom he reached the final of the Cupa României 2010/11 . On July 4, 2011, his contract with Dinamo was terminated. Negotiations with clubs from the United States and the People's Republic of China subsequently failed, so that Andone was without engagement from summer 2011. On April 9, 2012 he returned to CFR Cluj , where he replaced the Portuguese Jorge Costa , who had been sacked the day before after the 5-0 home defeat in the championship game against Rapid Bucharest. With Andone, the club was able to win the Romanian championship in 2012. But after poor results at the beginning of the 2012/13 season , he dissolved his contract on October 24, 2012 after the 1-1 draw at Galatasaray Istanbul in the Champions League .

In July 2013 Andone took over the Kazakh club FK Astana , which had just been eliminated in the first qualifying round for the Europa League . After the runner-up at the end of the 2013 season , they parted ways again. In February 2014 he was again the coach of al-Ettifaq , which he had to leave two months later. In October 2014 he became the head coach of Apollon Limassol in Cyprus. In April 2015 he was discharged and replaced by Ton Caanen . In the summer of 2015 he was hired by FK Aqtöbe . After the end of the 2015 season , he left the club after finishing the championship in third place. Andone was again the head coach of Dinamo Bucharest from May 2016 to February 2017.
