The League 1 2012/13 was the 75th season of the highest Romanian football league . It started on July 21, 2012 and ended on May 29, 2013.

The defending champion is CFR Cluj . On matchday 29, Steaua Bucharest secured the championship early.

The league 1 played with 18 teams. Subject to the withdrawal of other teams' license , four last-placed teams were relegated to League II , from which four teams were promoted (the top two from each of the two seasons). There were three points for a win, one point for a draw and no points for a defeat. If two or more teams were tied at the end of the season, it was not the goal difference that decided , but the direct comparison.
