The 2012/13 Welsh Premier League was the 21st season of the top Welsh division in men's football . It began on August 17, 2012 and ended with the final of the Europa League playoff on May 18, 2013.

The reigning champions The New Saints FC confidently secured their title defense early with 22 points ahead of Airbus UK .

mode

The twelve teams initially competed against each other twice in a first round and a second half, so that each club played 22 games. The league was then split, with the six best-placed teams playing for the championship and international starting places, while the rest battled relegation. In these divided rounds, the teams compete against each other twice. All results from the preliminary round will be adopted.

The top-ranked team in the championship round becomes Welsh champions and qualifies for the 2013/14 Champions League qualification . The runner-up is entitled to start in the qualification for the Europa League 2013/14 . The remaining four teams of the championship round, as well as the best team of the relegation round, play in a playoff tournament for the last place in the Europa League qualification.

Preliminary round

The six best-placed clubs reach the championship round, the teams in positions seven to twelve play against relegation. It should be noted that the number of points achieved in the 22 games in the preliminary round is transferred to the individual groups.

    Relegation round

    The winner of the relegation round gets the chance to qualify for an international starting place via the Europa League playoffs . The two teams in positions eleven and twelve are relegated to the second division.

    The teams in places three to six of the championship round , as well as the winner of the relegation round, reach the playoffs. In the knockout system , a participant in the 1st qualifying round for the 2013/14 UEFA Europa League is determined. Three rounds are played, with the top three teams receiving a bye for the first round.
