Port Talbot Town (officially: Port Talbot Town Football Club ) is a football club from the Welsh town of Port Talbot , which currently plays in Division One , the second highest division in Welsh.

history

The club was founded in 1901 as Port Talbot Athletic .

In 2000 they rose to the League of Wales , the top division of Wales . Then the name changed in 2011 and from then on it was called Port Talbot Town . For Afan Lido FC is a rivalry, as both teams half a mile are separated from each other only around. The rivalry is one of the fiercest in South Wales.

A third place in the 2009/10 season enabled the club to participate in the 2010/11 UEFA Europa League . However, they were eliminated in the first qualifying round with 1: 7 (1: 3 & 0: 4) against the Finnish representative Turun Palloseura . It was Port Talbot Town's only international appearance so far.

Fan culture

The average attendance was 270 between 1994 and 2010, although the number of viewers has recently increased. The highest attendance ever reached was in the game against Swansea City with 2,609 spectators. The game took place in the quarter-finals of the FAW Premier Cup 2007 and Port Talbot won 2-1.

Port Talbot Town fans are known for their loyal and passionate lyrics, which is why they are considered one of the best fan bases in Wales. The ultra group, which calls themselves The Burns Road Enders or Burners for short , is considered to be one of the most extreme groups in the entire Welsh league. During the games, the group often uses Bengali fires , drums and trumpets.
