Hozelec (until 1927 Slovak "Hozolec"; German High salt or Hoseletz , Hungarian Ószelec - until 1907 Hozelec ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia , with a population of 774 (as of December 31, 2019) . It belongs to Okres Poprad , which is part of the higher Prešovský kraj district .
geography
The municipality is located in the Podtatranská kotlina (Lower Tatra Basin ) in the traditional Spiš landscape , between the Gánovský potok and Hozelský potok brooks , which belong to two different catchment areas: the former belongs to that of the Baltic Sea, while the second belongs to the Black Basin Sea. Hozelec is five kilometers from Poprad .
Administratively, the municipality is divided into the main town of Hozelec and the settlement Úsvit, which is located four kilometers northeast of Hozelec.
