Liptovská Teplička (until 1927 in Slovak without the addition of "Teplička"; German Zeplitschke , Hungarian Teplicska ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia .
location
The village Liptovská Teplička is located in the historical region Liptov ( Liptov ) on the northern edge of the Low Tatras at the foot of the mountain Kráľova hoľa . The Čierny Váh ( Black Waag ), one of the source rivers of the Waag, flows through the village . Liptovská Teplička is sheltered in a valley. The district town of Poprad is 22 km away.
history
The place was first mentioned in 1634, it was settled by the Gorals from the regions of Arwa and Kysuce . Obviously, the settlement of this place must have taken place earlier: The stripe-shaped division of the fields, which can still be seen today, is reminiscent of a forest hoof village .
From 1916 to 1972 it had its own station on the Považská lesná železnica narrow-gauge railway, which no longer exists .
Sightseeing and tourism
Sights in the village include the Baroque Roman Catholic Church of St. Nicholas from 1759, the Teplická izba with an exhibition of historical photographs and objects, and the Teplický dom , an exhibition of a traditional farmhouse . Liptovská Teplička is the starting point for hikes in the Low Tatras National Park. There are several ski lifts and some guest houses in the village . On the southern outskirts there are cold rooms or vegetable cellars built into the slope of the Low Tatras.
