Nová Lesná (German Neuwalddorf , Hungarian Alsóerdőfalva - until 1892 Újleszna ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia . It is located in the Podtatranská kotlina basin at the foot of the High Tatras , about 7 km from Starý Smokovec (as part of the municipality of Vysoké Tatry ) and 8 km from Poprad .

The place was first mentioned in writing in 1315 as villa Menhardi .
In Nova Lesna there are a large number of pensions and holiday apartments of various quality levels. Because of this, and because of its location on the Tatra Electric Railway , the place is an ideal starting point for a variety of summer and winter activities in the High Tatras.
