Wilhelm Konrad August von Heuduck (born April 5, 1821 in Breslau , † November 20, 1899 in Baden-Baden ) was a Prussian general of the cavalry .

Wilhelm was the son of the Prussian major general Konrad von Heuduck , who was raised to the Prussian nobility on September 5, 1823 because of his military services.

Military career

Heuduck first attended high school in his hometown and the Berlin cadet house . On August 15, 1838, he was transferred to the 9th Hussar Regiment of the Prussian Army as a second lieutenant . For training purposes he was commanded from July 18, 1846 for one year in the 1st Artillery Brigade. After returning to his regular regiment, Heuduck served as regimental adjutant from November 1, 1848 to May 1, 1851. In the meantime he took part in the suppression of the Baden Revolution in the battles near Niedesheim, Ludwigshafen , Waghäusel , and Durlach in 1849 . During the fighting for Kuppenheim , the horse was shot in the body and Heuduck himself was shot in the right foot.

He was then transferred to the 1st Dragoons Regiment and a year later he was promoted to Prime Lieutenant . As such, he led a squadron of the 1st Landwehr Dragoons in 1854/55 and then held various adjutant positions. After 19 years of service, Heuduck was promoted to Rittmeister on May 16, 1857 . With the formation of the 7th Dragoon Regiment in 1860, he was appointed squadron chief . During the German-Danish War of 1864 he fought with his regiment near Missunde, Sandberg and Rackebüll and took part in the siege of the Düppeler Schanzen .

During the campaign of 1866 against the Austrians in Bohemia he was for a time in command of Brno . In 1867 he took command of the 1st Hessian Hussar Regiment No. 13 , which he also led in the war against France in 1870/71 . From mid-August 1873 to the end of January 1876, Heuduck was the commander of the 21st Cavalry Brigade in Frankfurt am Main and rose to major general . He then became head of the Military Riding Institute in Hanover . In 1884 he was promoted to lieutenant general and took over the leadership of the cavalry division as part of the XV. Army Corps in the Reichsland Alsace-Lorraine . As an excellent expert on the French language, he was allowed to attend the maneuvers of the French 17th Corps in the autumn. In 1885 the governor of Alsace-Lorraine, Field Marshal von Manteuffel asked Heuduck as adlatus . After Manteuffel's death on June 17, 1885, Heuduck became his successor on September 16 as commanding general of the XV. Army Corps in Strasbourg .
