Afan Lido Football Club was founded in 1967 in Port Talbot, Wales, and takes its name from a recently opened sports center to which the club belongs. First they played in the Port Talbot and District League before Afan Lido was accepted into the Welsh Football League in the 1971/72 season.
In 1992 Afan Lido was one of the founding members of the new elite league League of Wales , where they won the league cup three times and qualified once for the UEFA Cup as runner-up, but failed in the first round at the Latvian RAF Jelgava .
Only a year later, the deep fall came in 20th place and, as a result, relegation. After two years you rose again. But in 2005 Afan Lido was relegated from the first division for the second time when one had to get over a decisive point deduction because of the use of a player who was not eligible to play.
In 2011 the promotion succeeded again, but the league could only be held for three years; since then the club has been active in the Welsh League Division One, i.e. as a second division.
