Nicolae Constantin Dică (born May 9, 1980 in Piteşti , Argeş district ) is a former Romanian football player and current coach . He played a total of 330 games in the Romanian League 1 , the Italian Serie A , the Greek Super League and the Turkish Super Lig . With Steaua Bucharest and CFR Cluj , he won the Romanian championship three times. In 2006 he was named Romania's Footballer of the Year .
Player career
The 1.81 m tall offensive midfielder played for Steaua Bucharest from 2004 to 2008 , previously at FC Argeş Piteşti from 2000 to 2004 . For the Romanian national soccer team he has played 32 times since October 11, 2003 and scored nine goals.
At the end of 2003 he was in conversation with Eintracht Frankfurt , a move to Frankfurt failed because of the transfer fee.
On June 28, 2008 Catania Calcio announced that they have committed Nicolae Dică for the 2008/09 season for four years. In the summer of 2009 Dică was loaned to the Greek first division club Iraklis Thessaloniki , during the winter break to the Romanian club CFR Cluj . Since summer 2010 he has been playing on loan for the Turkish club Manisaspor . In January 2011 he returned to Steaua Bucharest and won the Romanian Cup .
In the summer of 2011, Dică moved to CS Mioveni . Just six months later he joined second division FC Viitorul Constanța , with whom he rose to League 1 at the end of the season . In the summer of 2014 he ended his active career.
Coaching career
Immediately after completing his active career, Dică became assistant coach under Constantin Gâlcă at Steaua Bucharest . After Gâlcă's dismissal, he continued this activity under his successor Mirel Rădoi . At the beginning of December 2015 he was the successor for a game. Since January 2016 he was the head coach of SCM Piteşti in Liga III .
In May 2017 Dică became the new coach of FCSB Bucharest .
