Romario Sandu Benzar (born March 26, 1992 in Timișoara ) is a Romanian football player . He has been under contract with FCSB Bucharest since summer 2017 .

Career

Benzar's career began in 2009 when he moved to the newly formed FC Viitorul Constanța in Liga III at the age of 17 . He was used eight times and rose to League II at the end of the 2009/10 season . There he came more often and was able to move up with his team at the end of the 2011/12 season in the league 1 . In the highest Romanian league he became a regular. He fought with Viitorul for three years to stay in the class before he was able to finish the 2015/16 season in fifth place. This meant qualifying for the Europa League , where Benzar was used in the 5-0 defeat at KRC Genk in the third qualifying round. With the start of the 2016/17 season he is the captain of Viitorul. At the end of the season he won the Romanian championship for the first time with his club.

National team

At the end of August 2016, Benzar was appointed to the Romanian national team for the first time by new coach Christoph Daum . In the first World Cup qualifier against Montenegro , he was on the starting line-up on September 4, 2016. He was able to maintain this status in the following qualifying games.
