Mihai Roman (born October 16, 1984 in Brașov ) is a Romanian football player on the position of midfielder . Since summer 2018 he has been under contract with FCSB Bucharest in League 1 .
Career
Roman began his career at FC Cetatea Suceava , where he was active in the youth team from 2000 to 2005. In 2005 he joined the first team. In its first season, the club was fifth in the second division, but the following year they were relegated from the second highest Romanian division.
The midfielder then moved to FC Brașov , a second division club at the time. Already in its first season you could get promoted to the top division, with an impressive season the FC was first in the league, 14 points ahead of a non-promotion place.
Roman made his Liga 1 debut on July 26, 2008 against eventual champions Unirea Urziceni . The game could be won 1-0. Roman was replaced in the 75th minute by Adrian Senin . In his first season he was able to book another 30 missions and three goals, FC Brașov was ninth at the end of the season.
In summer 2010, Roman moved to Rapid Bucharest . At the end of the 2010/11 season he qualified with Rapid for the Europa League . He was able to repeat this success a year later. At the same time, he and his team made it to the 2012 cup final , but lost 1-0 to Dinamo Bucharest there . In the summer of 2013 he moved to Toulouse FC in the French Ligue 1 .
In Toulouse, Roman was haunted by bad luck with injuries. In preparation for the 2013/14 season , his Achilles tendon tore and he only made five short appearances in the final phase . In the 2014/15 season he was not used at all due to a broken shin and only sat on the bench a few times. The same fate befell him in the 2015/16 season . In the summer of 2016 he left Toulouse and returned to Romania, where first division club FC Botoșani signed him . There he was regularly used again.
National team
Internationally, the midfielder has played eight times for Romania so far . He made his debut on June 6, 2009 in the qualifier for the 2010 World Cup against Lithuania , Roman came on in the 72nd minute for Bogdan Mara . The game in Marijampolė ended 1-0 for the Romanians.
