Argeş [ ˈardʒeʃ ] ( pronunciation ? / I ) is a Romanian district ( Județ ) in the Wallachia region with the district capital Piteşti . Its common abbreviation and the license plate are AG. Audio file / audio sample

The County of Arges, bordered to the north of the circles Brasov and Sibiu , in the east of the county Dambovita , in the south to the Teleorman county , in the west of the circles Olt and Valcea .

Demographics

At the 2002 census, the district had 652,625 inhabitants and a population density of 95 inhabitants per km². Of these, 642,256 were Romanians , 9,227 Roma , 322 Hungarians , 118 Germans , 87 Greeks , 71 Turks .

In 2011 the Argeș district had 612,431 inhabitants, thus a population density of 89 inhabitants per km².
