Teleorman County
Teleorman is a Romanian district ( Județ ) in the Wallachia region with the district capital Alexandria . The license plate number and the common abbreviation for the circle are TR.
The Teleorman County borders in the north to the counties Arges and Dambovita , in the east to the Giurgiu County , in the south of Bulgaria and in the west of the Olt County .
Demographics
In 2002 the district had 436,025 inhabitants and a population density of 74 inhabitants per km².
In 2011, the Teleorman county registered 380,123 inhabitants and thus had a population density of 65 inhabitants per km².

The district has a total area of 5872 km², which corresponds to 2.46% of the area of Romania.
Located in the south of Romania in the Great Wallachia , the river Olt (Alt) flows into the Danube in the south of the district , which separates the district from Bulgaria over a length of about 90 kilometers. Larger rivers that flow through the district are the Vedea (120 km), the Călmățui (118 km) and the Teleorman River . The region's climate is dry and continental. The soil is rich in nutrients and mostly consists of loess-rich black earth ; for this reason, agriculture plays an important role here.
