Buzau County
Buzău ([ buˈzəu̯ ]; ) is a Romanian district (Județ) in the Wallachia region with the district capital Buzău . The license plate number and the common abbreviation for the circle is BZ.
The county Buzau bordered to the north and north-east of the county of Vrancea , in the East to the Brăila County , in the south of the county Ialomita , in the west of the Prahova County and in the northwest to the circles Brasov and Covasna .
Demographics
In 2002 the district had 494,982 inhabitants and a population density of 81 inhabitants per km².
In 2011, the Buzău County had 451,069 inhabitants and a population density of 74 inhabitants per km².
geography
The district has a total area of 6103 km², which corresponds to 2.6% of the area of Romania. The landscape rises from the southeast of the district - the Wallachian Plain (Câmpia Română) - over the heathland and hills with orchards and vineyards in the northwest to the Bozau Mountains (Munții Buzăului) . The main river is the Buzău with its largest tributaries Pănătău , Slănic and Câlnău .
