Tulcea County
Tulcea [ ˈtult͜ʃe̯a ] is a Romanian district ( Județ ) in the Dobruja region with the district capital Tulcea . Its common abbreviation and the license plate are TL.
The Tulcea County borders in the north to the Ukraine in the east to the Black Sea , in the south of the county Constanta , in the west of the county Braila and in the northwest to the Galaţi County .
Demographics
In 2002 the Tulcea district had 256,492 inhabitants, a population density of 30 inhabitants per km². Of these, 230,843 were Romanians , 16,350 Lipovans , 3,334 Turks , 2,272 Roma , 1,680 Greeks , 179 Tatars , 135 Hungarians , 134 Italians , 83 Germans , 61 Bulgarians and others.
In 2011, 213,083 residents were registered in Tulcea County; the population density was 25 inhabitants per km².

The Tulcea County has a total area of 8499 km², which corresponds to 3.56% of the area of Romania. Located in the southeast of Romania, the district includes the Danube Delta and the northern half of the Dobruja Highlands (Podișul Dobrogei) . It is located between the Balta Brăilei in the west and the Black Sea in the east.
