Satu Mare County


Satu Mare ( German: Sathmar , Hungarian: Szatmár ) is a Romanian district ( Județ ) with the district capital Satu Mare . Its common abbreviation and license plate are SM.
The Satu Mare County borders in the north to the Ukraine in the east to the Maramureş County , in the south of the circles Bihor and Salaj , further in the west to the county Salaj as well as to Hungary .

geography
The district has a total area of 4418 km², which corresponds to 1.85% of the area of Romania. It is connected to the Maramureș district via the Huta pass .
