Prahova district
Prahova [ˈprahova] is a Romanian district (Județ) in the Wallachia region with the district capital Ploieşti . It is named after the river Prahova of the same name , its common abbreviation and the license plate are PH.
The Prahova County borders in the north to the Braşov County , in the east of the county Buzau , in the south of the circles Ialomita and Ilfov and in the west to the county Dâmboviţa .
The district is known for its oil deposits (in the south) and well-developed tourism (in the north).
Demographics
In 2002 the district had 829,945 inhabitants and a population density of 176 inhabitants per km².
At the 2011 census, the Prahova district had 762,886 inhabitants and thus a population density of 162 inhabitants per km².

The district has a total area of 4716 km², which corresponds to 1.97% of the area of Romania.
