Neamț [ ˈneamts ] ( pronunciation ? / I ) is a Romanian district ( Județ ) in the Moldova region with the district capital Piatra Neamț . The license plate number and the common abbreviation for the circle is NT. Neamț means “German”. Audio file / audio sample

The county Neamt borders in the north and in the north-west of the Suceava County , in the east to the Iaşi County , in the southeast of the Vaslui county , in the south of the county Bacau and in the west to the Harghita county .

In 2002 the district had 557,084 inhabitants and a population density of 99 inhabitants per km².
